The Simple Bible Truth about the 7th-day Sabbath

Genesis 2:1-4 And the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it he rested from all his work which God had created and made. 4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Jehovah God made earth and heaven.

Sabbath - a Sign/Mark/Seal of Jehovah's Authority

• Exodus 31:13-14 ... Verily ye shall keep my sabbaths: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am Jehovah who sanctifieth you. 14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that profaneth it shall surely be put to death; for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

The roots of Sunday Worship

I am not sure when sunday worship began, but we know that in 150 AD, Justin Martyr wrote, "On Sunday, we meet to celebrate the Lord’s supper and read the Gospels and Sacred Scripture..."

We also know that, in the year 321, the Roman emperor, Constantine made a new edict known as the Sunday decree ( recorded in the Codex Justinianus 3.12.2) => "All judges and city people and the craftsmen shall rest upon the venerable Day of the Sun..." This decree was enacted on March 7, 321 AD, and was based on honoring and esteeming the celestial body, the sun. The “venerable day of the sun” referred to Sunday.

Prior to this decree, Sunday was already associated with the pagan Roman sun god Sol Invictus, who was the official sun god of the later Roman Empire and a patron of soldiers. The cult of Sol Invictus was established by Emperor Aurelian in 274 AD and was promoted as a state religion. Sol Invictus was often depicted wearing a sun crown and driving a horse-drawn chariot through the sky.

Constantine’s decree likely aimed to appease the growing Christian population, as Sunday was already being observed as a Christian festival commemorating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. By declaring Sunday a day of rest, Constantine effectively legitimized the Christian observance of Sunday and aligned it with the existing pagan Roman sun god. This was the merging of christianity with pagan customs, which began enforcement of the 1st-day sabbath - Sunday worship.

Sunday - RCC Sign/Mark/Seal Of Authority

• “Sunday is our mark of authority…The church is above the Bible, and this observance is proof of that fact.” (Catholic Record, September 1, 1923)

• In reply to a letter of October 28, 1895, to Cardinal Gibbons, asking if the church claimed the change of the Sabbath as her mark, C. F. Thomas, chancellor of the cardinal, wrote the following: “Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change was her act, and the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical power.”

• So, if Sunday Worship is an authoritative mark of the Catholic Church, as they claim, and if the Roman Catholic Church is the first "beast" of Revelation 13, then Sunday worship is "the mark of the beast" =>

Mark of the Beast & Seal of the Living God Explained

Why is the RCC(Roman Catholic Church) considered to be the first beast of Revelation 13? See => http://sidnash.org/docs/1stBeastRev13.html

By history, we have determined that the RCC rejected the 7-day Sabbath and replaced it with Sunday worship with pagan roots. The RCC did this by "her" "authority" - her "ecclesiastical power". As a result, she considers Sunday to be a mark of her "ecclesiastical power" and "authority". She also says, "by keeping Sunday, they acknowledge the church's power". In other words, those who keep Sunday as a holy day, rather than the 7th-day Sabbath are under the authority of the RCC - they accept the mark of the RCC "authority". And, according to the RCC, those who keep Sunday as sabbath "HONOUR ... THE MOST HOLY TRINITY". We will study the origins of the trinity at a future time.

In a similar way, those who keep the 7th-day Sabbath as a holy day of Jehovah are under the authority of "the Living God" - Jehovah( Jer10:10 ) - Christ's Father - ( Jn17:3;Mt16:16 ) - they accept the sign/mark/seal of the Creator's Sovereign authority. Those who keep the 7th-day Sabbath honor "our Father, which art in Heaven" - Jehovah - the Creator.

The Greek word translated "image" is "eikṓn" and, according to Strong's Concordance, means " a likeness, i.e. (literally) statue, profile, or (figuratively) representation, resemblance". "eikṓn" is used 20 times in the new testament and can be seen here => http://sidnash.org/b/B3h

Let's look at a related prophesy of Jesus =>

Matthew 24:7-8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 But all these things are the beginning of travail.

The word "pestilences" would be like a pandemic, like covid19, and others... The Greek word is "loimós" and according to Strong's Concordance, means " a plague (literally, the disease, or figuratively, a pest)" and can be seen here => http://sidnash.org/b/LDg

Matthew 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation{persecution}, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name's sake.

Notice the word "Then", starting verse 9. A common definition for "Then", is "At that time". This would indicate that the reason that they will "deliver you up unto tribulation" is because of the "famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes". Why is that?! Maybe it is because they are blaming you, and me, for all those problems. But, why would they do that?!

Remember what happened during the covid "pandemic"? Remember that the minority of people refused to take the vaccine? What happened to them? They were blamed for the continued spread of sickness. They were demeaned and threatened and many lost their jobs.

I think that in the same way, we will be blamed for the "famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes", because we refuse to accept the mark of the RCC "authority" - the Sunday sabbath. That's why we "shall be hated of all the nations for my{Christ's} name's sake." Notice also that Jesus said that they will "kill you". Let's continue in Revelation 13, while considering that the "image" could be Protestantism =>

Revelation 13:15 And he{USA} had power to give life unto the image of the beast{RCC}, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image{Protestantism} of the beast{RCC} should be killed.

How does a nation speak? Through its legislation.

How does a nation cause? Through its enforcement.
