Mark of the Beast

The "mark of the beast" is first referenced in last four verses of Revelation 13

Revelation 13:15-18 It was given to him{the USA} to give breath to the image of the beast{apostate Protestantism}, that the image of the beast should both speak{legislate laws}, and cause{enforce laws} as many as wouldn’t worship the image of the beast should be killed. 18 And he{the USA} causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast{papacy's mark or name}, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast{papacy's number}: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six{666 - the number of the papacy's name}.

In verse 15, why the death penalty for not worshiping apostate Protestantism?

My short answer is, "I'm not sure." What I do know is that the Greek word that was translated "worship" here was used about 60 times, mostly with worship directed to the Father and/or His Son. However, in Rev13 we see worship of pagan Rome, papal Rome, and the image of papal Rome. We also see in Rev14:9-11 that those who worship the image... will be tormented for a long time. Really, it is a bad thing to worship anything or anyone, other than the Father and His Son.

What is a mark?

The Greek word translated "mark" is pronounced "cháragma , khar'-ag-mah ;". It is defined as, " a scratch or etching, i.e. stamp (as a badge of servitude), or scupltured figure (statue)". In this context, I would say that this mark is " a badge of servitude".

What is the mark of the "beast"(papacy)? These are quotes from the RCC =>

So, if Sunday Worship is an authoritative mark of the Catholic Church, as they claim, and if the Roman Catholic Church(RCC) is the first "beast" of Revelation 13, as we previously established, then Sunday worship is "the mark of the beast(papacy)." But, we've seen more... They also say that the trinity is a "mark of the Christian Faith." And since this was said in a Catholic publication, and since the trinity is a creation of Rome, this is their mark of authority also. But there is more... In the RCC Catechism, which is their statement of doctrinal beliefs, they say that the trinity is "the source of all the other mysteries of faith". What they call "mysteries" is their doctrines. So, the trinity doctrine is "the source" of the sunday sabbath, along with all their other mysteries/doctrines/heresies, what ever you wish to call it. And, because of this, the RCC also says =>

What does it mean "to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads"?

To receive the mark of the beast means to accept their " mark(s)" by accepting their trinity God and/or their sunday sabbath. Medical science tells us that the frontal lobes of our brain are in our forehead. This is where we make our conscious decisions - likely where angels(good & evil) communicate with us. So, receiving the mark of the beast in our forehead would be the result of us deciding to worship the trinity and honor this false god's false sabbath on sunday. Receiving the mark in our hand means that, even if we do not agree with the trinity or the sunday sabbath, we'll do it any to avoid the consequences, as mentioned in Rev13:15-18 . Notice that the seal of God cannot be given to the hand, but only to the forehead =>

Considering Rev13:17-18, What is the pope's name?

There was a report in 1832 that someone saw the Latin phrase "VICARIUS FILII DEI"(Vicar of the Son of God) on the front of the pope's miter. From the 1828 Webster's Dictionary, this is the definition of "Vicar": "In a general sense, a person deputed or authorized to perform the functions of another; a substitute in office. The pope pretends to be vicar of Jesus Christ on earth. He has under him a grand vicar, who is a cardinal, and whose jurisdiction extends over all priests, regular and secular." But, the title "VICARIUS FILII DEI" was never officially given to any pope, as far I've been able to find... Why does this matter? Well, as we will see in the next section, the number for this title is 666.

However, the title "Vicarius Christi"(Vicar of Christ) has been a standard title for popes for centuries, virtually all popes since its widespread adoption(around 1200AD) have been referred to or have referred to themselves with this title in some capacity.

When we compare "VICARIUS FILII DEI"(Vicar of the Son of God) with "Vicarius Christi"(Vicar of Christ), we see that they are the same meaning, because "Christ" is "the Son of God. So, either way, the Pope declares himself to be the representative of Christ, the Son of God.

How is it that 666 is the number of the pope's name?

With Roman Numerals, which were in use in Rome since at least the 8th century BC, certain letters from the alphabet are used to represent various numbers. In 1st-century AD, when the book of Revelation was written, the following seven Roman numeral symbols, with these numeric values, were in use:

I: 1
V: 5
X: 10
L: 50
C: 100
D: 500
M: 1000

At that time, in the Latin language, "U" was the same as "V". All other letters, not in this list, are assigned the numeric value of 0(zero). With this information, we are able to assign a number to any name, such as "VICARIUS FILII DEI"(Vicar of the Son of God), like this:

When we add all of the above numbers, we get 666. Now, if this was the only evidence that the first beast of Revelation 13 is papal Rome, then I wouldn't be fully satisfied of it's accuracy. However, since we have much more evidence of this, we can be quite sure that we have made an accurate match.
