Revelation Chapter 19
Revelation 19:1 After this, I heard what sounded like a vast crowd in heaven shouting, Praise the Lord!{Greek: Hallelujah; also in verses 3, 4, 6. "Hallelujah" is the transliteration of a Hebrew term that means "Praise the Lord"} Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
-
Regarding the phrase "After this": This must be a reference to what happened at the end of Rev18, where we saw that Babylon was destroyed. As a result of her destruction, Revelation 18:20 proclaims, "Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye saints, and ye apostles, and ye prophets; for God hath judged your judgment on her"(Babylon). That's why, at the beginning of Rev19, we see all heaven praising God for setting planet Earth free from the tyrannical whore - Babylon - the once "great city" that persecuted God's people.
-
Regarding, "God hath judged your judgment on her" => This appears to be saying that God will move your sins to Babylon's "account".
Revelation 19:2-3 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication{using nations to enforce false teachings}, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. 3 And again they said, Praise the Lord. And her smoke ascends for the ever and ever.

Revelation 19:4-5 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Praise the Lord! 5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, from the least to the greatest.

Revelation 19:6 Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder: Praise the Lord! For the Lord{Greek:kýrios; Hebrew:Jehovah} our God{Greek:theós; Hebrew:elohim}, the Almighty{omnipotent; all-powerful}, reigns.
-
Exodus 6:3 and I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, as God{elohim} Almighty; but by my name Jehovah I was not known to them.
-
Psalm 97:1 Jehovah reigneth; let the earth rejoice; Let the multitude of isles be glad.
Revelation 19:7-9 Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him{Jehovah}. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb{Jesus}, and his bride{the saints - "God’s holy people"} has prepared herself. 8 She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.” For the fine linen represents the righteousness of God’s holy people. 9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are invited to the marriage feast of the Lamb. And he{an angel} saith unto me, These are the true words that come from God.

Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he{an angel} said unto me{John}, No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers who have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
- The Greek word, translated "worship" twice in this verse, denotes an act of reverence, whether paid to a creature, or to the Creator.

Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there. Its rider{Christ} was Faithful and True, for he judges fairly and wages a righteous war.
-
Regarding the white horse, there is another mention of a white horse in Rev6:2 => "And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he{Christ} that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer."
- Jeremiah 23:5-6 Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch{Jesus}, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name whereby he shall be called: Jehovah our righteousness.
- Verse 6(above) could be confusing since, during Jesus' previous ministry on Earth, Judah was not saved and Israel did not "dwell safely". But, neither did Jesus "reign as king"! So, these must be references to Jesus' second coming - during His 1000 year reign.
- John 5:22-27 Jesus speaking => "For neither doth the Father judge any man, but he hath given all judgment unto the Son; ... 27 and he gave him{Christ} authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.
- Being a "son of man", Jesus is human, like us, therefore qualified to be our Judge.
Revelation 19:12-13 His{Christ's} eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called The Word of God.
- John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God...
-
Revelation 1:14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
- Revelation 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
-
Revelation 2:18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
Revelation 19:14 The armies of heaven{angels, see below}, dressed in the finest of pure white linen, followed him{Christ} on white horses.
- 2 Thessalonians1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
-
Matthew 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
-
Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
-
Matthew 24:30-31 ... they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Revelation 19:15-16 From his{Christ's} mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress. 16 And he{Christ} hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
- Regarding Christ ruling the nations with iron(vs15), this was prophesied in Psalm2 and in Rev12:
-
Psalm 2:7-9 I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me{Christ}, Thou art my son; This day have I begotten thee. 8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
-
Revelation 12:5 And she{God's church - specifically Mary} was delivered of a son{Jesus}, a man child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and unto his throne.
-
Revelation 19:17-18 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 Come and eat the flesh of kings, generals, and strong warriors; of horses and their riders; and of all humanity, both free and slave, small and great.
-
Ezekiel 39:17-20 And thou{Ezekiel}, son of man, thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Speak unto the birds of every sort, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh and drink blood. 18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan. 19 And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. 20 And ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord Jehovah.
- Isaiah 34:2-8 For Jehovah hath indignation against all the nations, and wrath against all their host: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter... 6 The sword of Jehovah is filled with blood... 8 For Jehovah hath a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
- Notice the "day" for "a year" comparison! See => http://sidnash.org/docs/PropheticDayYear.html for more info...
Revelation 19:19-21 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him{Christ} that sat on the horse, and against his army{angels}. 20 And the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who did mighty miracles on behalf of the beast—miracles that deceived all who had accepted the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image. Both the beast and his false prophet were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. 21 Their entire army was killed by the sharp sword that came from the mouth of the one riding the white horse. And the birds all gorged themselves on the dead bodies.
-
In the following two quotes from Jesus, He seems to reference the same event with the birds:
-
Luke 17:33-37 Whosoever shall seek to gain his life shall lose it: but whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. 34 I say unto you, In that night there shall be ... two women grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. 36 There shall be two men in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. 37 And they answering say unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body is, thither will the eagles also be gathered together.
-
Matthew 24:28 Wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered
