Psalm Chapter 2
(references to Father Jehovah in red; references to His Son in purple)
Psalm 2:1-3 Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together, against Jehovah, and against his Anointed, saying, 3 "Let's break their bonds apart, and cast their cords from us."
- Speaking of the last days, which I believe we are in, we see what will happen to "the nations" who will go up against Jehovah and His "his Anointed" at Christ's second coming: Revelation 17:14 These will war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings...
- In an incident in the early Christian church in Acts 4, we see Christ's disciples praying to "our Father(Jehovah) which art in Heaven" while quoting Ps2:1-3 =>
- "... O Lord, you are God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them; 25 who by the mouth of your servant, David, said, ‘Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing? 26 The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take council together, against the Lord, and against his Christ.' For truly, in this city against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed..." ( Acts 4:24-27 ). Notice that the early church understood "his Anointed" of Ps2:2 to be Jesus, Father Jehovah's Messiah.
- I would suggest reading Acts 4:1-37 - the entire chapter. It is my opinion that what happened there is a model and encouragement for us in these last days...
Psalm 2:4-7 He who sits in the heavens will laugh. The Lord will have them in derision. 5 Then he will speak to them in his anger, and terrify them in his wrath: 6 "Yet I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion." 7 I will tell of the decree. Jehovah said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father.

- Hebrews 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee? and again, I will be to him a Father, And he shall be to me a Son?
Hebrews 1:6 And when he again bringeth in the firstborn into the world he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. - Matthew 17:5-7 While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
- John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.

- Psalm 72:1-9,17-19 God, give the king your justice; your righteousness to the royal son. 2 He will judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice. 3 The mountains shall bring prosperity to the people. The hills bring the fruit of righteousness. 4 He will judge the poor of the people. He will save the children of the needy, and will break the oppressor in pieces. 5 They shall fear you while the sun endures; and as long as the moon, throughout all generations. 6 He will come down like rain on the mown grass, as showers that water the earth. 7 In his days, the righteous shall flourish, and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more. 8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, from the River to the ends of the earth. 9 Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him. His enemies shall lick the dust... 17 His name endures forever. His name continues as long as the sun. Men shall be blessed by him. All nations will call him blessed. 18 Praise be to Jehovah God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. 19 Blessed be his glorious name forever! Let the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and amen.
Psalm 2:9 You shall break them with a rod of iron. You shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."
- Revelation 12:1-5 A great sign was seen in heaven: a woman{God's Church} clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. 2 She was with child. She cried out in pain, laboring to give birth. 3 Another sign was seen in heaven. Behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven crowns. 4 ... The dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child. {remember how Herod killed all the young children in Bethlehem, hoping to kill Jesus (Mt2:16-18; Jer31:15 )} 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron. Her child was caught up to God, and to his throne.
- Revelation 2:26-27 He who overcomes, and he who keeps my works to the end, to him I will give authority over the nations. 27 He will rule them with a rod of iron, shattering them like clay pots; as I also have received of my Father: (regarding, "He who overcomes", see also Rev20:4-6 )
- Revelation 19:15-16 Out of his mouth proceeds a sharp, double-edged sword, that with it he should strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. - Psalm 95:1-7 Oh come, let's sing to Jehovah. Let's shout aloud to the rock of our salvation! 2 Let's come before his presence with thanksgiving. Let's extol him with songs! 3 For Jehovah is a great God, a great King above all gods. 4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth. The heights of the mountains are also his. 5 The sea is his, and he made it. His hands formed the dry land. 6 Oh come, let's worship and bow down. Let's kneel before Jehovah, our Maker, 7 for he is our God. We are the people of his pasture, and the sheep in his care. Today, oh that you would hear his voice!

- John 15:1-7 (Jesus speaking) I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer. 2 Every branch in me that doesn't bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can't bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. 5 I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If a man doesn't remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.

- Psalm 146:3-5 Don't put your trust in princes, each a son of man in whom there is no help. 4 His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish. 5 Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in Jehovah, his God:
- Proverbs 16:20 He who heeds the Word{see Jn1:14 } finds prosperity. Whoever trusts in Jehovah is blessed.
- Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we won't be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; 3 though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling. Selah.
- Psalm 46:4-7 There is a river, the streams of which make the city of God glad, the holy place of the tents of the Most High. 5 God is in her midst. She shall not be moved. - Psalm 46:8-11 Come, see Jehovah's works, what desolations he has made in the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth. He breaks the bow, and shatters the spear. He burns the chariots in the fire. 10 "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth." 11 Jehovah of Armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
