He and brother Robert immigrated to VA in 1639 (per Steve Kent). Benoistransported his wife and 7 children, as well as others including Thomas Sterling, from VA to MD in 1658. Benois' family were granted full citizenship by Lord Baltimore in 1658. Benois was the first Huguenot to settle in Calvert Co. His "Brashear's Purchase" plantation was on the Upper Cliffs of the county, but he died before receiving the patent. In 1661, he was a county magistrate or 1st Justice, and later a Sheriff. (Cyndi Stallings)
Benjamin "Benoise" Brasseur/Brashear was magistrate of Calvert County, Maryland in 1661...
"Benoise" transported his wife and children, as well as other persons-including one, Thomas Sterling, from Virginia. His descendants moved to Prince George's County and Anne Arundel County, where their name was modified to Brashear/Brashears.
"Benoise" died in 1663 and his widow married Thomas Sterling, who thereby acquired the landed estates of Brasseur. The Brasseur lands were patented to Thomas Sterling in right of his wife, the widow of Benjamin "Benoise" Brasseur, under the name of Sterling's Nest. This large plantation adjoins Major's Choice and Upper Bennett (the plantation of John C. Stallings)...
Benois married Mary (Marie) Rickford. (Mary (Marie) Rickford was born in 1621 481.)
