A Land Owner in Marion Co, TN by 1824
He lived on Poplar Creek but by 1806 he had sold his property and was living in Dequatchie Valley. He prospered there and became the first Register of Deeds in Marion County. He had at least two sons: William S. and James
Amos Griffith was the irst register of Marion County, serving from 1819 to 1836, when his son James was elected to the same position; he served for eight years. Amos Griffith also had substantial holdings near Daniels Cove, about four miles north of Whitwell.
