- Teachings of John the Baptist =>
- Jesus speaks the words of God.
- The words of God are the spirit that He gives without measure to His Son.
- The Father gave all things to His Son.
- By believing the Son of God, we will have eternal life.
John 5:19-30 Yeshua therefore answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise. ... 30 I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is righteous, because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
- Teachings of Jesus =>
- Jesus can do nothing of Himself.
- Jesus seeks only His Father's will
Colossians 1:27 to whom God was pleased to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Messiah{Christ} in you, the hope of glory.
- Teaching of Paul => A mystery of the Gentiles is having Christ in us, which gives us the hope of glorification(eternal life).
- Questions =>
- How can we have Messiah in us?
- How does Messiah in us give us eternal life?
John 6:54-68 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. ... 63 It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life. ... 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.

- If we eat potatoes, we will have potatoes in us, right? Likewise, if we do what Jesus said (in vs.54) and eat Him, we will have Jesus in us, right? That makes sense, but that's really gross. So, what does it really mean?
- In verses 63 and 58, we see that it is not about eating Jesus, rather it is about eating His words, His teachings, which are spirit, in agreement with Jn3:34 above.
- By "eating" Jesus' teachings, we are "eating" His spirit, which gives us eternal life. This is how we can have Christ in us. It is His teachings in us that give us the hope of Glory - eternal life.
- Question => How do we eat the teachings of Jesus?
- Answer => Just as we eat food to be assimilated into our body to sustain life, so can we assimilate the teachings of Jesus into our mind to sustain eternal life.
John 7:16-17 Yeshua therefore answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. 17 If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God or if I am speaking from myself.
- Teaching of Jesus => Jesus only teaches according what His Father says.
John 14:6,15-21 Yeshua said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. ... 15 If you love me, keep my commandments{teachings}. 16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may be with you forever: 17 the Spirit of truth... You know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless. I will come to you. 19 ... you will see me. Because I live, you will live also... 21 One who has my commandments{teachings} and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.”
- Jesus is 1) the way; 2) truth; 3) life.
- If we keep the teachings of Jesus(vs.15), then =>
- we will be showing our love for Jesus (vs.15)

- Father will send us the Comforter/Spirit of Truth (vs.16-17) =>
- the disciples knew Him because He was living with them (vs.17)
- Jesus said it is He who will come to comfort us (vs.18)
- Jesus said, "you will see me" (vs.19)
- In verse 21, Jesus said this about those who have His teachings and keep them => "that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him."
John 8:29-38 He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him. 30 As he spoke these things, many believed in him. 31 Yeshua therefore said to those Judeans who had believed him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.. 32 You will know the truth, and the truth will wet you free... 36 If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. ... 38 I say the things which I have seen with my Father..."
- Jesus does only those things that are pleasing to His Father.
- Question => According to Jesus, how do we become His disciples? By being faithful to His teaching.
- Question => What is another result of being faithful to Jesus' teachings? According to Jesus, "You will know the truth, and the truth will wet you free."
- Again, Jesus insists that He only uses His Father's teachings.
John 12:44-50 Yeshua cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not only in me, but also in him who sent me.{explained in vs.49-50} 45 He who sees me sees him who sent me.{explained in vs.49-50} 46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness. 47 If anyone listens to my sayings and doesn’t believe, I don’t judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. 48 He who rejects me, and doesn’t receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke will judge him in the last day. {Why? =>} 49 I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it. 50 And I know his commands lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells me to say.”
- If we believe in Jesus' teachings =>
- we will also believe in His Father (vs.44)
- we will NOT remain in darkness (vs.46)
- If we refuse to believe in Jesus' teachings =>
- we will remain in darkness (vs.46)
- Jesus will NOT judge us (vs.47)
- The teachings of Jesus WILL judge us, "in the last day" (vs.48)
- Why are all these these things true? =>
- Jesus does not speak on His own authority. Rather, He speaks on His Father's authority (vs.49)
- The teachings of Jesus' Father "lead to eternal life"! (vs.50)
