Luke 10:1 ¶ Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him{literally, “before his face”} into every city and place where he was about to come.
2 Then he said to them, “Theharvestisindeedplentiful,butthelaborersarefew.PraythereforetotheLordoftheharvest,thathemaysendoutlaborersintohisharvest.3Goyourways.Behold,Isendyououtaslambsamongwolves.4Carrynopurse,norwallet,norsandals.Greetnooneontheway.5Intowhateverhouseyouenter,firstsay,‘Peacebetothishouse.’6Ifasonofpeaceisthere,yourpeacewillrestonhim;butifnot,itwillreturntoyou.7Remaininthatsamehouse,eatinganddrinkingthethingstheygive,forthelaborerisworthyofhiswages.Don’tgofromhousetohouse.8Intowhatevercityyouenterandtheyreceiveyou,eatthethingsthataresetbeforeyou.9Healthesickwhoarethereandtellthem,‘God’sKingdomhascomeneartoyou.’10Butintowhatevercityyouenterandtheydon’treceiveyou,gooutintoitsstreetsandsay,11‘Eventhedustfromyourcitythatclingstous,wewipeoffagainstyou.Neverthelessknowthis,thatGod’sKingdomhascomeneartoyou.’12Itellyou,itwillbemoretolerableinthatdayforSodomthanforthatcity.
Luke 10:13 ¶ “Woetoyou,Chorazin!Woetoyou,Bethsaida!ForifthemightyworkshadbeendoneinTyreandSidonwhichweredoneinyou,theywouldhaverepentedlongago,sittinginsackclothandashes.14ButitwillbemoretolerableforTyreandSidoninthejudgmentthanforyou.15You,Capernaum,whoareexaltedtoheaven,willbebroughtdowntoSheol.{Sheol is the lower realm of the dead, or Hell.}16Whoeverlistenstoyoulistenstome,andwhoeverrejectsyourejectsme.Whoeverrejectsmerejectshimwhosentme.”
Luke 10:17 ¶ The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”
Luke 10:18 ¶ He said to them, “IsawSatanhavingfallenlikelightningfromheaven.19Behold,Igiveyouauthoritytotreadonserpentsandscorpions,andoverallthepoweroftheenemy.Nothingwillinanywayhurtyou.20Nevertheless,don’trejoiceinthis,thatthespiritsaresubjecttoyou,butrejoicethatyournamesarewritteninheaven.”
Luke 10:21 ¶ In that same hour, Yeshua rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, “Ithankyou,OFather,Lordofheavenandearth,thatyouhavehiddenthesethingsfromthewiseandunderstanding,andrevealedthemtolittlechildren.Yes,Father,forsoitwaswell-pleasinginyoursight.”
Luke 10:22 ¶ Turning to the disciples, he said, “AllthingshavebeendeliveredtomebymyFather.NooneknowswhotheSonis,excepttheFather,andwhotheFatheris,excepttheSon,andhetowhomevertheSondesirestorevealhim.”
Luke 10:23 ¶ Turning to the disciples, he said privately, “Blessedaretheeyeswhichseethethingsthatyousee,24forItellyouthatmanyprophetsandkingsdesiredtoseethethingswhichyousee,anddidn’tseethem,andtohearthethingswhichyouhear,anddidn’thearthem.”
Luke 10:25 ¶ Behold, a certain Torah scholar stood up and tested him, saying, “Rabbi, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
Luke 10:26 ¶ He said to him, “WhatiswrittenintheTorah?Howdoyoureadit?”
Luke 10:27 ¶ He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind;{Leviticus 19:18}
Luke 10:28 ¶ He said to him, “Youhaveansweredcorrectly.Dothis,andyouwilllive.”
Luke 10:29 ¶ But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Yeshua, “Who is my neighbor?”
Luke 10:30 ¶ Yeshua answered, “AcertainmanwasgoingdownfromJerusalemtoJericho,andhefellamongrobbers,whobothstrippedhimandbeathim,anddeparted,leavinghimhalfdead.31Bychanceacertainpriestwasgoingdownthatway.Whenhesawhim,hepassedbyontheotherside.32InthesamewayaLevitealso,whenhecametotheplaceandsawhim,passedbyontheotherside.33ButacertainSamaritan,ashetraveled,camewherehewas.Whenhesawhim,hewasmovedwithcompassion,34cametohim,andbounduphiswounds,pouringonoilandwine.Hesethimonhisownanimal,broughthimtoaninn,andtookcareofhim.35Onthenextday,whenhedeparted,hetookouttwodenarii,gavethemtothehost,andsaidtohim,‘Takecareofhim.Whateveryouspendbeyondthat,IwillrepayyouwhenIreturn.’36Nowwhichofthesethreedoyouthinkseemedtobeaneighbortohimwhofellamongtherobbers?”
Luke 10:37 ¶ He said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Yeshua said to him, “Goanddolikewise.”
Luke 10:38 ¶ As they went on their way, he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 She had a sister called Miriam, who also sat at Yeshua’s feet and heard his word.
40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she came up to him, and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister left me to serve alone? Ask her therefore to help me.”
Luke 10:41 ¶ Yeshua answered her, “Martha,Martha,youareanxiousandtroubledaboutmanythings,42butonethingisneeded.Miriamhaschosenthegoodpart,whichwillnotbetakenawayfromher.”
