2 Kings 6:3 ¶ One259 said,559 "Please be pleased2974 to go3212 with your servants."5650 He answered,559 "I will go."32124 So he went3212 with them. When they came935 to the Jordan,3383 they cut down1504 wood.60865 But as one259 was felling5307 a beam,6982 the axe head1270 fell5307 into the water.4325 Then he cried,6817 and said,559 "Alas,162 my master!113 For it was borrowed."7592
2 Kings 6:6 ¶ The man376 of God430 asked,559 "Where575 did it fall?"5307 He showed7200 him the place.4725 He cut down7094 a stick,6086 threw7993 it in there, and made the iron1270 float.66877 He said,559 "Take it."7311 So he put out7971 his hand3027 and took3947 it.
2 Kings 6:8 ¶ Now the king4428 of Syria758 was warring3898 against Israel;3478 and he took counsel3289 with his servants,5650 saying,559 "My camp8466 will be in such6423 and such492 a place."4725
2 Kings 6:9 ¶ The man376 of God430 sent7971 to the king4428 of Israel,3478 saying,559 "Beware8104 that you not pass5674 such2088 a place;4725 for the Syrians758 are coming down5185 there."
10 The king4428 of Israel3478 sent7971 to the place4725 which the man376 of God430 told559 him and warned2094 him of; and he saved8104 himself there, not once259 nor twice.814711 The heart3820 of the king4428 of Syria758 was very troubled5590 about this.1697 He called7121 his servants,5650 and said559 to them, "Won't you show5046 me which of us is for the king4428 of Israel?"3478
2 Kings 6:12 ¶ One259 of his servants5650 said,559 "No, my lord,113 O king;4428 but Elisha,477 the prophet5030 who is in Israel,3478 tells5046 the king4428 of Israel3478 the words1697 that you speak1696 in your bedroom."2315
2 Kings 6:13 ¶ He said,559 "Go3212 and see7200 where351 he is, that I may send7971 and get3947 him." It was told5046 him, saying,559 "Behold, he is in Dothan."1886
2 Kings 6:14 ¶ Therefore he sent7971 horses,5483 chariots,7393 and a great3515 army2428 there. They came935 by night,3915 and surrounded5362 the5362 city.589215 When the servant8334 of the man376 of God430 had risen6965 early,7925 and gone out,3318 behold, an army2428 with horses5483 and chariots7393 was around5437 the city.5892 His servant5288 said559 to him, "Alas,162 my master!113 What shall we do?"6213
2 Kings 6:16 ¶ He answered,559 "Don't be afraid;3372 for those who are with us are more7227 than those who are with them."
17 Elisha477 prayed,6419 and said,559 "Yahweh,3068 please open6491 his eyes,5869 that he may see."7200 Yahweh3068 opened6491 the eyes5869 of the young man;5288 and he saw:7200 and behold, the mountain2022 was full4390 of horses5483 and chariots7393 of fire784 around5439 Elisha.47718 When they came down3381 to him, Elisha477 prayed6419 to Yahweh,3068 and said,559 "Please strike5221 this people1471 with blindness."5575 He struck5221 them with blindness5575 according to the word1697 of Elisha.47719 Elisha477 said559 to them, "This is not the way,1870 neither is this2090 the city.5892 Follow3212 me, and I will bring3212 you to the man376 whom you seek."1245 He led3212 them to Samaria.811120 It happened, when they had come935 into Samaria,8111 that Elisha477 said,559 "Yahweh,3068 open6491 the eyes5869 of these men, that they may see."7200 Yahweh3068 opened6491 their eyes,5869 and they saw;7200 and behold, they were in the midst8432 of Samaria.811121 The king4428 of Israel3478 said559 to Elisha,477 when he saw7200 them, "My father,1 shall I strike5221 them? 2 Kings 6:22 ¶ He answered,559 "You shall not strike5221 them. Would you strike5221 those whom you have taken captive7617 with your sword2719 and with your bow?7198 Set7760 bread3899 and water4325 before6440 them, that they may eat398 and drink,8354 and go3212 to their master."113
2 Kings 6:23 ¶ He prepared3739 great1419 feast3740 for them. When they had eaten398 and drunk,8354 he sent them away,7971 and they went3212 to their master.113 The bands1416 of Syria758 stopped3254 raiding the land776 of Israel.3478
2 Kings 6:24 ¶ It happened after this,310 that Benhadad1130 king4428 of Syria758 gathered6908 all his army,4264 and went up5927 and besieged6696 Samaria.811125 There was a great1419 famine7458 in Samaria.8111 Behold, they besieged6696 it, until a donkey's2543 head7218 was sold for eighty8084 pieces of silver,3701 and the fourth part7255 of a kab6894{A kab was about 2 liters, so a fourth of a kab would be about 500 milliliters or about a pint} of dove's dung3123 for five2568 pieces of silver.370126 As the king4428 of Israel3478 was passing by5674 on the wall,2346 a woman802 cried6817 to him, saying,559 "Help,3467 my lord,113 O king!"4428
2 Kings 6:27 ¶ He said,559 "If Yahweh3068 doesn't help3467 you, from where370 could I help3467 you? From of the threshing floor,1637 or from the winepress?"334228 The king4428 said559 to her, "What ails you?" She answered,559 "This woman802 said559 to me, ‘Give5414 your son,1121 that we may eat398 him today,3117 and we will eat398 my son1121 tomorrow.'427929 So we boiled1310 my son,1121 and ate398 him: and I said559 to her on the next312 day,3117 ‘Give5414 your son,1121 that we may eat398 him;' and she has hidden2244 her son."1121
2 Kings 6:30 ¶ It happened, when the king4428 heard8085 the words1697 of the woman,802 that he tore7167 his clothes899 (now he was passing by5674 on the wall);2346 and the people5971 looked,7200 and behold, he had sackcloth8242 underneath1004 on his flesh.132031 Then he said,559 "God430 do6213 so to me, and more3254 also, if the head7218 of Elisha477 the son1121 of Shaphat8202 shall stay5975 on him this day."3117
2 Kings 6:32 ¶ But Elisha477 was sitting3427 in his house,1004 and the elders2205 were sitting3427 with him. Then the king sent7971 a man376 from before6440 him; but before the messenger4397 came935 to him, he said559 to the elders,2205 "Do you see7200 how this son1121 of a murderer7523 has sent7971 to take away5493 my head?7218 Behold,7200 when the messenger4397 comes,935 shut5462 the door,1817 and hold the door1817 shut3905 against him. Isn't the sound6963 of his master's113 feet7272 behind310 him?"
2 Kings 6:33 ¶ While he was still talking1696 with them, behold, the messenger4397 came down3381 to him. Then he said,559 "Behold, this evil7451 is from Yahweh.3068 Why should I wait3176 for Yahweh3068 any longer?"
