Jeremiah 51:1 Thus saith559 the LORD;3068 Behold, I will raise up5782 against Babylon,894 and against them that dwell3427 in the midst3820{Heb. heart} of them that rise up6965 against me, a destroying7843 wind;7307 2 And will send7971 unto Babylon894 fanners,2114 that shall fan2219 her, and shall empty1238 her land:776 for in the day3117 of trouble7451 they shall be against her round about.5439 3 Against him that bendeth1869 2794 let the archer1869 bend1869 his bow,7198 and against him that lifteth himself up5927 in his brigandine:5630 and spare2550 ye not her young men;970 destroy ye utterly2763 all her host.6635 4 Thus the slain2491 shall fall5307 in the land776 of the Chaldeans,3778 and they that are thrust through1856 in her streets.2351 5 For Israel3478 hath not been forsaken,488 nor Judah3063 of his God,430 of the LORD3068 of hosts;6635 though their land776 was filled4390 with sin817 against the Holy One6918 of Israel.3478 6 Flee out5127 of the midst8432 of causeth the vapours5387 to ascend5927 from the ends7097 of the earth:776 he maketh6213 lightnings1300 with rain,4306 and bringeth forth3318 the wind7307 out of his treasures.214 17 Every man120 is thereof, and all the rulers5461 thereof, and all the land776 of his dominion.4475 29 And the land776 shall tremble7493 and sorrow:2342 for every purpose4284 of the LORD3068 shall be performed6965 for thee;5360 and I will dry up2717 her sea,3220 and make her springs4726 dry.3001 37 And Babylon894 shall become heaps,1530 a dwellingplace4583 for dragons,8577 an astonishment,8047 and an come935 unto her from the north,6828 saith5002 the LORD.3068 49 As1571 Babylon894 hath caused the slain2491 of Israel3478 to fall,5307{Or, both Babylon is to fall, O ye slain of Israel, and with Babylon, etc.} so at Babylon894 shall fall5307 the slain2491 of all the earth.776{Or, the country} 50 Ye that have escaped6405 the sword,2719 go away,1980 stand not still:5975 remember2142 the Because the spoiler7703 is come935 upon her, even upon Babylon,894 and her mighty men1368 are taken,3920 every one of their bows7198 is broken:2865 for the LORD3068 God410 of recompences1578 shall Jeremiah 51:59 The word1697 which Jeremiah3414 the prophet5030 commanded6680 Seraiah8304 the son1121 of Neriah,5374 the son1121 of Maaseiah,4271 when he went3212 with{Or, on the behalf of} Zedekiah6667 the king4428 of Judah3063 into Babylon894 in the fourth7243 year8141 of his reign.4427 And this Seraiah8304 was a quiet4496 prince.8269{Or, prince of Menucha or chief chamberlain} 60 So Jeremiah3414 wrote3789 in a259 book5612 all the evil7451 that should come935 upon Babylon,894 even all these words1697 that are written3789 against Babylon.894 61 And Jeremiah3414 said559 to Seraiah,8304 When thou comest935 to Babylon,894 and shalt see,7200 and shalt read7121 all these words;1697 62 Then shalt thou say,559 O LORD,3068 thou hast spoken1696 against this place,4725 to cut it off,3772 that none shall remain3427 in it, neither man120 nor beast,929 but that it shall be desolate8077{Heb. desolations} for ever.5769 63 And it shall be, when thou hast made an end3615 of reading7121 this book,5612 that thou shalt bind7194 a stone68 to it, and cast7993 it into the midst8432 of Euphrates:6578 64 And thou shalt say,559 Thus shall Babylon894 sink,8257 and shall not rise6965 from6440 the evil7451 that I will bring935 upon her: and they shall be weary.3286 Thus far are the words1697 of Jeremiah.3414
