Genesis 37:1 And Jacob3290 dwelt3427 in the land776 wherein his father1 was a stranger,4033{Heb. of his fathers sojournings} in the land776 of Canaan.3667 2 These are the generations8435 of Jacob.3290 Joseph,3130 being seventeen6240 7651 years8141 old,1121 was feeding7462 the flock6629 with his brethren;251 and the lad5288 was with the sons1121 of Bilhah,1090 and with the sons1121 of Zilpah,2153 his father's1 wives:802 and Joseph3130 brought935 unto his father1 their evil7451 report.1681 3 Now Israel3478 loved157 Joseph3130 more than all his children,1121 because he was the son1121 of his old age:2208 and he made6213 him a coat3801 of many colours.6446{Or, pieces} 4 And when his brethren251 saw7200 that their father1 loved157 him more than all his brethren,251 they hated8130 him, and could3201 not speak1696 peaceably7965 unto him.

Genesis 37:5 And Joseph3130 dreamed2492 a dream,2472 and he told5046 it his brethren:251 and they hated8130 him yet the more.3254 6 And he said559 unto them, Hear,8085 I pray you, this dream2472 which I have dreamed:2492 7 For, behold, we were binding481 8432 sheaves485 in the field,7704 and, lo, my sheaf485 arose,6965 and also stood upright;5324 and, behold, your sheaves485 stood round about,5437 and made obeisance7812 to my sheaf.485 8 And his brethren251 said559 to him, Shalt thou indeed4427 reign4427 over us? or shalt thou indeed4910 have dominion4910 over us? Genesis 37:9 And he dreamed2492 yet another312 dream,2472 and told5608 it his brethren,251 and said,559 Behold, I have dreamed2492 a dream2472 more; and, behold, the sun8121 and the moon3394 and the eleven6240 259 stars3556 made obeisance7812 to me. 10 And he told5608 it to his father,1 and to his brethren:251 and his father1 rebuked1605 him, and said559 unto him, What is this dream2472 that thou hast dreamed?2492 Shall I and thy mother517 and thy brethren251 indeed935 come935 to bow down7812 ourselves to thee to the earth?776 11 And his brethren251 envied7065 him; but his father1 observed8104 the saying.1697

Genesis 37:12 And his brethren251 went3212 to feed7462 their father's1 flock6629 in Shechem.7927 13 And Israel3478 said559 unto Joseph,3130 Do not thy brethren251 feed7462 the flock in Shechem?7927 come,3212 and I will send thee7971 unto them. And he said559 to him, Here am I. 14 And he said559 to him, Go,3212 I pray thee, see7200 whether it be well7965 with thy brethren,251{Heb. see the peace of thy brethren, etc} and well7965 with the flocks;6629 and bring7725 2794 me word1697 again.7725 So he sent7971 him out of the vale6010 of Hebron,2275 and he came935 to Shechem.7927

Genesis 37:15 And a certain man376 found him,4672 and, behold, he was wandering8582 in the field:7704 and the man376 asked him,7592 saying,559 What seekest1245 thou? 16 And he said,559 I seek1245 my brethren:251 tell5046 me, I pray thee, where375 they feed7462 their flocks. 17 And the man376 said,559 They are departed5265 hence;2088 for I heard8085 them say,559 Let us go3212 to Dothan.1886 And Joseph3130 went3212 after310 his brethren,251 and found4672 them in Dothan.1886 18 And when they saw7200 him afar off,7350 even before he came near7126 unto them, they conspired5230 against him to slay4191 him. 19 And they said559 one376 to another,251 Behold, this1976 dreamer1167 2472{Heb. master of dreams} cometh.935 20 Come3212 now therefore, and let us slay2026 him, and cast7993 him into some259 pit,953 and we will say,559 Some evil7451 beast2416 hath devoured398 him: and we shall see7200 what will become of his dreams.2472 21 And Reuben7205 heard8085 it, and he delivered5337 him out of their hands;3027 and said,559 Let us not kill5221 5315 him. 22 And Reuben7205 said559 unto them, Shed8210 no blood,1818 but cast7993 him into this pit953 that is in the wilderness,4057 and lay7971 no hand3027 upon him; that he might rid5337 him out of their hands,3027 to deliver7725 2794 him to his father1 again.7725

Genesis 37:23 And it came to pass, when Joseph3130 was come935 unto his brethren,251 that they stript6584 853 Joseph3130 out of854 his coat,3801 his coat3801 of many colours6446{Or, pieces} that was on him; 24 And they took3947 him, and cast7993 him into a pit:953 and the pit953 was empty,7386 there was no water4325 in it. 25 And they sat down3427 to eat398 bread:3899 and they lifted up5375 their eyes5869 and looked,7200 and, behold, a company736 of Ishmeelites3459 came935 from Gilead1568 with their camels1581 bearing5375 spicery5219 and balm6875 and myrrh,3910 going1980 to carry it down3381 to Egypt.4714 26 And Judah3063 said559 unto his brethren,251 What profit1215 is it if we slay2026 our brother,251 and conceal3680 his blood?1818 27 Come,3212 and let us sell4376 him to the Ishmeelites,3459 and let not our hand3027 be upon him; for he is our brother251 and our flesh.1320 And his brethren251 were content.8085{Heb. hearkened} 28 Then there passed5674 by Midianites4084 merchantmen;582 5503 and they drew4900 and lifted up5927 Joseph3130 out of the pit,953 and sold4376 Joseph3130 to the Ishmeelites3459 for twenty6242 pieces of silver:3701 and they brought935 Joseph3130 into Egypt.4714
