Deuteronomy 18:1 The priests3548 the Levites,3881 all the tribe7626 of Levi,3878 shall have no portion2506 nor inheritance5159 with Israel:3478 they shall eat398 the offerings801 of Yahweh3068 made by fire,801 and his inheritance.51592 They shall have no inheritance5159 among7130 their brothers:251 Yahweh3068 is their inheritance,5159 as he has spoken1696 to them.
3 This shall be the priests'3548 due4941 from the people,5971 from those who offer2076 a sacrifice,2077 whether it be ox7794 or sheep,7716 that they shall give5414 to the priest3548 the shoulder,2220 and the two cheeks,3895 and the maw.68964 The first fruits7225 of your grain,1715 of your new wine,8492 and of your oil,3323 and the first7225 of the fleece1488 of your sheep,6629 you shall give5414 him.
5 For Yahweh3068 your God430 has chosen977 him out of all your tribes,7626 to stand5975 to minister8334 in the name8034 of Yahweh,3068 him and his sons1121 for ever.31176 If a Levite3881 comes935 from any259 of your gates8179 out of all Israel,3478 where he lives1481 as a foreigner, and comes935 with all the desire185 of his soul5315 to the place4725 which Yahweh3068 shall choose;9777 then he shall minister8334 in the name8034 of Yahweh3068 his God,430 as all his brothers251 the Levites3881 do, who stand5975 there before6440 Yahweh.30688 They shall have like portions2506 to eat,398 besides that which comes of the sale4465 of his patrimony.19 When you have come935 into the land776 which Yahweh3068 your God430 gives5414 you, you shall not learn3925 to do6213 after the abominations8441 of those nations.147110 There shall not be found4672 with you anyone who makes his son1121 or his daughter1323 to pass5674 through the fire,784 one who uses7080 divination,7081 one who practices sorcery,6049 or an enchanter,5172 or a sorcerer,378411 or a charmer,2266 or a consulter7592 with a familiar spirit,178 or a wizard,3049 or a necromancer.187512 For whoever does6213 these things is an abomination8441 to Yahweh:3068 and because1558 of these abominations8441 Yahweh3068 your God430 does drive them out3423 from before6440 you.
13 You shall be perfect8549 with Yahweh3068 your God.43014 For these nations,1471 that you shall dispossess,3423 listen8085 to those who practice sorcery,6049 and to diviners;7080 but as for you, Yahweh3068 your God430 has not allowed5414 you so to do.
15 Yahweh3068 your God430 will raise up6965 to you a prophet5030 from the midst7130 of you, of your brothers,251 like me. You shall listen8085 to him.
16 This is according to all that you desired7592 of Yahweh3068 your God430 in Horeb2722 in the day3117 of the assembly,6951 saying,559 "Let me not hear8085 again3254 the voice6963 of Yahweh3068 my God,430 neither let me see7200 this great1419 fire784 any more, that I not die."4191
Deuteronomy 18:17 Yahweh3068 said559 to me, "They have well3190 said that which they have spoken.169618 I will raise them up6965 a prophet5030 from among7130 their brothers,251 like you; and I will put5414 my words1697 in his mouth,6310 and he shall speak1696 to them all that I shall command6680 him.
19 It shall happen, that whoever376 will not listen8085 to my words1697 which he shall speak1696 in my name,8034 I will require1875 it of him.
20 But the prophet,5030 who shall speak1696 a word1697 presumptuously2102 in my name,8034 which I have not commanded6680 him to speak,1696 or who shall speak1696 in the name8034 of other312 gods,430 that same prophet5030 shall die."4191
Deuteronomy 18:21 If you say559 in your heart,3824 "How shall we know3045 the word1697 which Yahweh3068 has not spoken?"169622 when a prophet5030 speaks1696 in the name8034 of Yahweh,3068 if the thing1697 doesn't follow, nor happen,935 that is the thing1697 which Yahweh3068 has not spoken:1696 the prophet5030 has spoken1696 it presumptuously,2087 you shall not be afraid1481 of him.
