2 Chronicles 21:1 Now Jehoshaphat3092 slept7901 with his fathers,1 and was buried6912 with his fathers1 in the city5892 of David.1732 And Jehoram3088 his son1121 reigned4427 in his stead.
2 And he had brethren251 the sons1121 of Jehoshaphat,3092 Azariah,5838 and Jehiel,3171 and Zechariah,2148 and Azariah,5838 and Michael,4317 and Shephatiah:8203 all these were the sons1121 of Jehoshaphat3092 king4428 of Israel.34783 And their father1 gave5414 them great7227 gifts4979 of silver,3701 and of gold,2091 and of precious things,4030 with fenced4694 cities5892 in Judah:3063 but the kingdom4467 gave5414 he to Jehoram;3088 because he was the firstborn.10604 Now when Jehoram3088 was risen up6965 to the kingdom4467 of his father,1 he strengthened2388 himself, and slew2026 all his brethren251 with the sword,2719 and divers also of the princes8269 of Israel.3478
2 Chronicles 21:5 Jehoram3088was thirty7970 and two8147 years8141 old1121 when he began to reign,4427 and he reigned4427 eight8083 years8141 in Jerusalem.33896 And he walked3212 in the way1870 of the kings4428 of Israel,3478 like as did6213 the house1004 of Ahab:256 for he had the daughter1323 of Ahab256 to wife:802 and he wrought6213thatwhichwas evil7451 in the eyes5869 of the LORD.30687 Howbeit the LORD3068 would14 not destroy7843 the house1004 of David,1732 because of the covenant1285 that he had made3772 with David,1732 and as he promised559 to give5414 a light5216{Heb. lamp, or candle} to him and to his sons1121 for ever.3117
2 Chronicles 21:8 In his days3117 the Edomites123 revolted6586 from under the dominion3027{Heb. hand} of Judah,3063 and made4427 themselves a king.44289 Then Jehoram3088 went forth5674 with his princes,8269 and all his chariots7393 with him: and he rose up6965 by night,3915 and smote5221 the Edomites123 which compassed him in,5437 and the captains8269 of the chariots.739310 So the Edomites123 revolted6586 from under the hand3027 of Judah3063 unto this day.3117 The same time6256also did Libnah3841 revolt6586 from under his hand;3027 because he had forsaken5800 the LORD3068 God430 of his fathers.111 Moreover he made6213 high places1116 in the mountains2022 of Judah,3063 and caused the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem3389 to commit fornication,2181 and compelled5080 Judah3063thereto.
2 Chronicles 21:12 And there came935 a writing4385 to him from Elijah452 the prophet,5030 saying,559 Thus saith559 the LORD3068 God430 of David1732 thy father,1 Because thou hast not walked1980 in the ways1870 of Jehoshaphat3092 thy father,1 nor in the ways1870 of Asa609 king4428 of Judah,306313 But hast walked3212 in the way1870 of the kings4428 of Israel,3478 and hast made Judah3063 and the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem3389 to go a whoring,2181 like to the whoredoms2181 of the house1004 of Ahab,256 and also hast slain2026 thy brethren251 of thy father's1 house,1004whichwere better2896 than thyself:
14 Behold, with a great1419 plague4046{Heb. a great stroke} will the LORD3068 smite5062 thy people,5971 and thy children,1121 and thy wives,802 and all thy goods:739915 And thou shalthave great7227 sickness2483 by disease4245 of thy bowels,4578 until thy bowels4578 fall out3318 by reason of the sickness2483 day3117 by day.3117
2 Chronicles 21:16 Moreover the LORD3068 stirred up5782 against Jehoram3088 the spirit7307 of the Philistines,6430 and of the Arabians,6163 that were near59213027 the Ethiopians:356917 And they came up5927 into Judah,3063 and brake1234 into it, and carried away7617{Heb. carried captive} all the substance7399 that was found4672 in the king's4428 house,1004 and his sons1121 also, and his wives;802 so that there was never a son1121 left7604 him, save Jehoahaz,3059{Or, ahaziah, chap. 22.1. Or, Azariah, ver. 6} the youngest6996 of his sons.1121
2 Chronicles 21:18 And after310 all this the LORD3068 smote5062 him in his bowels4578 with an incurable3694832 disease.248319 And it came to pass, that in process of time,3117 after33186256 the end7093 of two8147 years,3117 his bowels4578 fell out3318 by reason5973 of his sickness:2483 so he died4191 of sore7451 diseases.8463 And his people5971 made6213 no burning8316 for him, like the burning8316 of his fathers.120 Thirty7970 and two8147 years old1121 was he when he began to reign,4427 and he reigned4427 in Jerusalem3389 eight8083 years,8141 and departed3212 without being desired.2532{Heb. without desire} Howbeit they buried6912 him in the city5892 of David,1732 but not in the sepulchres6913 of the kings.4428
