"He was a notorious non-conformist minister and was persecuted by the authorities for his religious views. He first was a minister in the Established Church of England from 1587 to 1605, when he was evicted from the living at Werewell in Hants for his liberal views. He came to Lynn, Mass. in 1631. He was persecuted in New England by the Puritans and in his old age returned to Hackney, a suburb of London were he died in 1660, lacking three months of being one hundred years old."
