Valborg Elisabeth Ekman
GEN: When Valborg (pronounced Walborg) was about 2 years old, her mother sold her to a wealthy family that had no children. My GEN: great grandmother's reasoning was that Valborg would be much happier (the family was very poor) and able to have things that GEN: my great grandmother couldn't provide her. Valbory was miserable and soon was returned to my great grandmother -- the people GEN: couldn't watch my great aunt be so utterly and completely miserable. Valborg never got over it. She left Sweden for GEN: America at age 12 (one of the first of her family to come over) and the incident shadowed her life until the day she died.
Valborg married Gunnar Gereon Mannson, son of Henning Zackarias Mannson and Josefina Selma Gullberg, on 10 Oct 1916. (Gunnar Gereon Mannson was born in Oct 1889 in Jonkoping, Smoland, Sweden and died in Salt Lake City, Utah.) |
