GEN: "[H]e was deemed a man of uncommon vigour of intellect and capacity, for one with an education so limited -- was a member of GEN: the Convention of his State, for ratifying the Constitution of the United States. And when the two great political parties GEN: were formed, he took his stand with the democractic party, to which he adhered through life, and was ever a prominent man of GEN: that party in the town. . . . . .
