General Notes: GEN: "Son of General Israel Chapin . . . At the death of his father, General Chapin, in 1795, Deacon Chapin succeeded him in the GEN: office of Agent of Indian Affairs, and continued in the office through the administration of Washington and Adams. After GEN: this, owning a large property at the outlet of Canandaigua Lake, 3 miles from the village, valuable for its water-power, he GEN: built there the mills still called Chapin's Mills, and in 1815 sold out in the village, and removed his family there." The GEN: Rev. Sylvester Nash, 1853. Isarel married Abigail Nash, daughter of Noah Nash and Abigail Belding, on 3 May 1785. (Abigail Nash was born on 15 Oct 1764 in Hatfield, Mass and died on 26 Aug 1828 in Canandaigua, New York.) |
